]]> By: whitenite http://pelski.co.uk/world-produce/#comment-1387 whitenite Fri, 12 Mar 2010 13:55:39 +0000 http://pelski.co.uk/world-produce/#comment-1387 good to see kwaito getting some shine. its a purely south african genre and has been going on since i was a kid. township sounds. its had a huge influence on the funky and 2-step sounds coming out of the UK, but nobody recognises it. i think most have never even heard of kwaito. until dj mujava’s “township funk” came out on warp, which, while being a very catchy tune, is really a pretty generic kwaito tune. couldnt believe it blew up like that. if it came out on soul candi or some South african label i doubt anyone would ever have heard of it.

im from cape town myself born and bred. funnily ennough ive never heard of jumpin back slash and im relatively involved in the music scene down here… strange
