A car crash involving an intoxicated driver left a man and a woman dead and 23 injured outside a gig during the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
Local police were attempting to stop the car, after it was seen earlier that evening driving in the wrong direction down a main road. It then careered through barricades into a crowd of music fans. The police describe the incident as an ‘intentional act’ and the driver will be charged with capital murder.
Police confirmed the victims were a woman from Austin on a moped and a Dutch man on a bicycle. No names have been released.
The crash happened at around 12:30 am on Thursday morning at the Mohawk venue. Tyler the Creator was due to perform at the venue moments after the incident.
