Chris TalBlaze has released this eclectic mix, that focuses on heavy basslines, dirty noises and some old-school sounds. However, it’s hard to pigeonhole this mix to any given dance genre, with such an assorted collection of tracks. Grinding distortion comes with nasty synth hooks, accompanied by warping and spluttering bass aplenty. But the tracklist itself is a real mixed bag – its refreshing, as few tracks are obvious choices. Its nice to find three or four tunes you’ve never heard (so many mixes are peppered with populist tunes that become repetative after hearing them so regularly). For example, with so many remixes to choose from his selection of Lifelike’s remix of Needy Girl is an astute and pleasing choice, and by no means the obvious one. The tracks are seemlessy mixed and bootlegged together, and lesser-known stormers are dropped consistently. I’d never previously heard this Van Helden remix of Hustler – bouncey and gnarled as hell, and then you know Beeper’s coming when u hear that calling ring-tone…a great warping, banging remix to end on … A tight live mix:
Chris TalBlaze – Smack ‘Em Up (Live Mix) [pelski highly recommends]

The whole mix sounds wonderfully retro, but uses current tunes and remixes to great effect, and doesnt draw out each track for too long. Here are some of the tunes from the mix that I have:
Isa GT – Pela’o (Crookers Remix)
Armand Van Helden feat. Nicole Roux – Je T’aime (Riva Starr ACID 80 Mix)
Vitamins For You – Flesh Python (Jokers of the Scene’s Piss Hammer Remix) [zshare link]
Surkin – White Knight [ripped from this month's mixmag] [zshare link]
Chemical Brothers – Boot it Again (Mowgli Mix)
Diplo feat. Sandra Melody – Diplo Rhythm
Chromeo – Needy Girl (Lifelike Remix)
Sinden & Count of Monte Cristal – Beeper (Fake Blood Remix)
Chris TalBlaze is part of the Electro outfit ‘intothefray‘ and helps organize the Game Over club nights at Corsica Studios in London. With appearances from Arrow!!, Punks Jump Up, Franz & Shape and David E. Sugar to name a few, they’ve been a success. Intothefray recently played at a new night at Corsica Studios – Smack & Tickle – alongside the likes of Toddla T and Pirate Soundsystem.
