I’m proud to present a good friend of mine, Rylski, wholl be supporting Pangaea and Pariah tomorrow at the Old Queens Head in Islington.
Lucky for us he’s giving away a recent remix for free: a re-rub of David Lyre’s wistful ‘Tear Them Down’. Rylski replaces the indie quitar flecks and drum hits with the shuffle and snap of 2-step beats, atop a rippling hum of sub bass:
Even better, however, are some of Rylski’s unreleased productions – which have already set both the Dubstep and FunkySouls forums alight with excitement. On ‘Aint Got You’, bass pads and hi-hats beckon in a yearning diva vocal snippet, chopped and twisted. Sublimely soulful yet beautifully restrained:
Rylski – Aint Got You [pelski highly recommends]
Another gentle soother that uses vocals to great effect, he swirls two harmonious vocal samples – one male, one female – over a tinny, 2-note synth:
Rylski – They Looked Real [pelski highly recommends]
The subtle and exact touches on Anne Marie make the track special. Some light-footed tribal patters sit beneath some metallic Detroit-esque snares fitting together nicely with that infectious melody:
See you tomorrow, remember to get there early as it starts at 8pm and ends at 2am:
