Scenester minimalism

I know what you’re thinking: not another Crystal Fighters remix. Enough is enough. But this one really turns the trendy, maximal ruckus of the original around, stripping it back into to some minimal house. The result is barely recongnisable, a humming, techy buzz of bass builds a driving momentum before dropping into a satisfying medley of clicks, clacks and congas. Mesmerising stuff. Fans of Renaissance Man should lap this up:

You may rememmber I posted Myd’s choppy, tropical anthem a while back. Well Femme En Fourrure have produced an excellent remix of that too. Slamming techno beats disguise the original’s chipper spirit. Keep you’r eyes peeled for Femme En Fourrure’s forthcoming ‘Pull Out’ release.

Myd – Train To Bamako (Femme En Fourrure Remix)

But for me, its Holland Canblaster’s upbeat, tribal house rejigg that trumps (is it me or are the Dutch running things in the tech-house scene right now?). It stays in keeping with the tropical vibe, while pulling back from the hectic glitch-fest that was the original:

One of my favourite Renaissance Man remixes of late just dropped in my inbox courtesy of the mighty Shir Khan. Chernobyl’s tropical number gets remixed by the likes of Samim, Dex and Edu K. Renaissance Man provide their upbeat, glitchy house beats to the baile funk original. I recommend you grab the whole EP here or here:
Chernobyl & Praga – Balança (Renaissance Man Remix)

Those feeling Pellegrino Sounds’ minimal, inventive house music should enjoy the new direction Helsinki’s Top Billin have taken their productions in. Best known for their crazy baltimore and crunk productions, Top Billin have done a mighty fine job on this one. The african percussion is low-key, minimal and yet catchy as hell:

Raziek – Die (Top Billin remix)

Bonus:
Nick Verwey – Dance Of The Sock Monkeys
