Blah Blah Blah, runners of the successful Brighton electro night, have started a promising range of podcasts/mixes; each episode mixed by a different of Blah Blah Blah DJ’s. This exclusive mix is from Toronoto-based electro stormer, Sta, who caused a stir last year with ‘In Living Colour’.
Here’s what the BlahBlahBlah crew have to say about this tasty new line of mixes:
“We run a mix series called WeAreBlahBlahBlah which we are using to promote what we believe are some of the best artists out there at the moment. We have some great guests lined up.
EP1 was mixed by Toronto based star Sta.
Blah Blah Blah is a party that crashed on the stoney shores of Brighton (UK) in June 2007 as part of a collaborative project between four eclectic souls the Blah Blah Blah DJs. In just 12 months BBB has established itself as the ultimate purveyor of all things electro, fidgety, wonky and baltimore. Blah Blah Blah pride themselves on their diverse musical outlook and have been proud to present some of the best rising electronic talent the globe has to offer, and now they are taking this message one step further with the launch of their eagerly anticipated mix series WeAreBlahBlahBlah.
Sta firmly established himself on the musical landscape with his stunning 2007 remix of the Timbaland track – Give it to Me. This is no mean feat when you consider the number of forgettable popular culture remixes which flood our blogs on a daily basis, and the reverent production status Mr Timbaland currently holds.
This bouncing mix demonstrates why his brand of heavy beats, pop sensibilities and sliced up vocals have won him global acclaim and a record deal with Adam Freelands Marine Parade for his debut release “In Living Colour” (Out Now).
Love the blog, we will keep these exclusive mixes coming your way.
Cheers
Jonny (BBB)This mix is indeed a summery slice of poppy electro – an unpretentious and upbeat mesh of tunes. Colourful and sunny, this chipper mix should cheer up your day and put a spring in your step. Eat it:
WeAreBlahBlahBlah – Mixed By Sta [pelski highly recommends]
1. Round Table Knights – Hold Me Back
2. Alex Gopher – Bingo
3. Fake Blood – Mars
4. The Teenagers – Alone Again (Van She Tech Remix)
5. Pase Rock – Get Money Kids
6. Boy 8-Bit – The Cricket Scores
7. Thunderheist – Jerk It (Nacho Lovers Remix)
8. Sta – Stalagmites (demo)
9. Ercola ft. Annie – Follow Me
10. Elton John – Are You Ready For Love (Freeform Five Remix)
11. Evil Nine – They Live (Breakb0t Remix)
The mix eases you in with that upbeat slice of electro-pop from Round Table Knights, a catchy vocal hook to keep you humming and retro sythns to boot, ensuring your feet stay firmly rooted to the dancefloor. He then blends into the deep, throaty beats of Alex Gohper’s recent hit ‘Bingo’ and then onto the 2008 staple set banger, ‘Mars’. Boy 8-bit’s latest tune ‘The Cricket Scores’ is one of the my favourite productions over the last couple of months, and retains a simple but infectious beat. Nice to see a change from the Joker Of The Scene remix, with Nacho Lovers re-rub of Thunderheist this time. The Elton John remix is a strange but soothing addition.
All in all: an expert mix filled with a sprightly collection of summer sounds.
