A huge line-up at the TROUBLE VISION launch. Be There. Pelski will.

You may have been merely stumbling around in the mud at Bestival… or just strolling through the streets of london… or staring at the facing wall of a random urinal… only to be confronted with yet another Trouble Vision sticker. They’re everywhere. Well, soon you can peel those pesky stickers off your back and finally head down to the huge debut night of Trouble Vision.

Pelski’s teamed up with the Intothefray crew to endorse a night whose line-up is jam-packed with YouCanCallMePelski favourites:

Jack Beats, Foamo, L-Vis1990, Skull Juice, Intothefray, Flinders, Patchwork Pirates… to name but a few.

You’ve downloaded their mixes here. You’ve heard their bass-heavy, fidgety tracks. You’ve had their banging electro remixes on constant repeat. And now you can see them all rip up the enticing venue of Corsica Studios in Elephant & Castle, London. Here, from the Trouble Vision crew, is a little introduction:

Trouble Vision Mega Mix No.1
(Pelski highly recommends)

Corsica Studios is an up-and-coming venue that over the past year has hosted many prestigious underground nights. The likes of Diplo, Squarepusher and Bonde Do Role have graced the decks, but it’s the small up-and-comers – who seem to reside here – that really excite. Electrifying new names who are starting to make a splash: Pirate Soundsystem, Toddla T, C90s, Franz & Shape, Arrow!!, Noah And The Whale, David E Sugar. These are the much blogged about artists. The underground cool kids. And all these names have played at Corsica Studios under the intothfray crew’s Game Over and Smack & Tickle nights. So their brand-spanking new night ‘Trouble Vision’ cannot fail to deliver.

Text Description

Perhaps most excitingly, Rusko takes the top slot in Room1. Rusko hails from the dirty depths of the Leeds dubstep scene. But rusko has a more melodic slant to his dubstep than most; in a slightly upbeat electro vein; and has been described as baring closest similarity to Skream and Digital Mystikz. Some of his tunes are big-party boomers – and don’t display the typical dark and eerie dubstep characteristics. Staple tune ‘Cockney Thug’ is particularly lively, while his rework of the much remixed ‘Pro Nails’ is a fresh addition. And I’m currently waiting in much anticipation for his remix of Audio Bullys.

Rusko – 2 N A Q

Also playing are Jack Beats – one of my firm favourites at the moment – who, a while back, sent me their superb remix of Black Ghosts bangin‘ yet strangely melodic ‘I Want Nothing’. JAck Beats’ remixes tend to focus on the very filthiest of wonky basslines, that squelch and warp the original tunes into dancefloor-destroyers. They are Beni G and Plus One – better known for their renowned Mixologists and Scratch Perverts outfits. Currently Jack Beats are grabbing alot of attention with their remix of AC Slater’s latest tune. For the full Jack Beats post click here:

White Williams – Violator (Jack Beats Remix) [pelski highly recommends]

Leon – Bring It On (Jack Beats Remix)

Jack Beats vs Fallacy – Keep It Ringing (Refix Dirty)
The superb Skull Juice will make an appearance too (promoters and residents of the Bloggers Delight crew) with Alex in Room 1 and Ben back to back with Tomb Crew. Boom:

Skull Juice – Tiga’s Move My Body (Faex’s ‘Not Only For Erol‘ Re-Edit)

The hugely hyped Foamo is also DJing in Room 1 – he’s recently released some hefty fidget tunes on Lee Mortimer’s Wearhouse Music label. His tracks possess infectious, bouncy basslines, and his mixes never disappoint – always filled to the brim with all the juicy-new wonky tunes your dying to get your hands on (…Herve’s remix of ‘This is Sick’, anyone?). Check out my Foamo post that includes his Summer mixtape here. If you’ve overplayed this, be sure to listen to his recent mix for Rob Da Bank’s Radio 1 show. Alternatively, just come to Trouble Vision. I’ll see you there.

The Correspondants craft vintage-beyond-vintage sounds, by melding swing with, er, hip hop: ‘swing-hop’ they call it. It sounds like a deliciously bizarre trip back to the 1930s: listening to upbeat rhthyms infused with jazzy funk and hip hop bounce. Strange, but charming music:

Robin’s playing alongside Oli DAB, and his excellent mix can be found below this post. Despite all the big names, Solid Gold and Park Ranger’s awesome electro sets ought not be missed. Download their first Trouble Vision mix from April here.

Boogalew Crew are a bunch of eclectic DJ’s (expect to hear anything from indie-electro to drum ‘n’ bass) with an impeccable taste in electronic beats, and who – if my hazy memory serves me correctly – recently helped me out (by.. er, carrying me to bed) after I (literally) hit the deck too early. ‘Cheers boys…and…er…you can call me Pelski‘.
This post could go on forever. There are many more highlights on the line-up I haven’t mentioned. But L-Vis 1990 and Patchwork Pirates are another two very unique up-and-comers not to be missed. L-Vis 1990 will be booming out some of his heavy slabs of bass with a slightly grimy garage slant in room 2. Patchwork Pirates’ mixes have been providing us with a delicious slice of refreshingly mashed-up hip-hop for some time now. Their sets are original – containing inventive mixing, that encompasses hip hop, electro, techno and dubstep. They recently produced a nice little promo mix for Fabric, that can be found over at the ever excellent trash menagerie blog.

Mujava – Township Funk (L-Vis 1990 Hyper Bass Remix)

Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You (L-Vis 1990 Hyper Bass Remix)

Benga & Coki – Night (L-Vis 1990 Hyper Bass Remix)

Stereo MC’s – Soul Girl ((L-Vis 1990 Hyper Bass Re-animation)
