The kindly fellas over at the ludicrously trendy Kitsune label have just sent me the full ‘I Love London’ release at full quality. This EP’s gained endless attention on the blogosphere, but Pelski has some stand out exclusives for you.
By now, you’ve all heard ‘I Love London’ – a quirky slice of folktronica, clamouring with noisy cowbells, fizzing synths and crazy, clipped ‘n snipped vocal cries. The remix package comes equipped with an inventive guitar flecked ‘vintage’ mix from In Flagranti, a tribal house offering from Lorcan Mak, a typically boisterous electro mix from 80 Kidz; among others. But it’s Matt Walsh’s and Alex Jones’ remix that really takes the biscuit.
Matt Walsh and Alex Jones are two London producers and DJs worth keeping an eye on – Walsh’s mixes always blend the freshest in forward-thinking techno and house. This time they bring slapping house beats set against minute vocal snippets. My favourite of the bunch:
Crystal Fighters – I Love London (Matt Walsh & Alex Jones’s Met Police Re-Think) [pelski highly recommends]
Brackles- who’s seen releases on the esteemed Appleblips and Planet Mu – has been ripping up the dubstep rulebook with his glitchy 2-step productions. As well as cementing his name was a new purveyor of leftfield garage, Brackles is also known for his formidable turntable skills. Here he provides an almost-8-bit melody, broken post-garage beats andpunchy vocal stabs. Strangely enough, Brackles manages to retain the upbeat, kooky essence of the original. (I posted his excellent remix of MTRKRFT here):
