Whatever you think about ‘Get Lucky’, Daft Punk’s first single in eight years, you can’t argue it ain’t catchy. And so we see the floodgates open to literally hundreds of crummy bootlegs and Youtube edits. The ever-reliable Drop Out Orchestra however have dropped a nicely restrained take (topping Greg Wilson’s somewhat limp effort) that’ll come in handy for the disco DJs. It retains the funk and soul of the original, whilst injecting a punchier, floor-friendlier beat, and extending the running time. They’re also wise to cut out Pharell’s painful intro and focus solely on the catchy bits – in particular Daft Punk’s trademark vocoding that only gets a brief showing in the original.
