dOpness

The original of Blanche Niege was the first dOp track I hear about two years ago. Since, the quirky Parisian trio, who skirt the experimental side of techno and deep house, haven’t ceased to amaze. Their production rate is second to none, and you can always bet they’ll turn in the most weird and wonderful remix on any package. Their productions use sparse structures off-set by jazzy chords and vocals, and their live set are renowned for being truly energetic – a kind-of performance rarely seen in techno live sets.
Lulu Rouge takes the eerie jungle atmospherics of the original Blanche Niege and transfer it to a more beat-structured template:
dOp – Blanche Niege (Lulu Rouge remix) [pelski highly recommends]
The second track on The Genius of The Crowd is criminally underrated. Ominous strings add an edge to earthy, primitive hand-pattered tribal drums and clamouring chants. Outstanding. Guy Gerber’s remix is worth a look-in too:
dOp – Mambo Jumbo [pelski highly recommends]

This one’s brand spanking – and is released on MagicBag, handed out for free as a 128 – with driving techno bass, sparse percussive beats and a fragmented whisper of a vocal loop. Charming techno:

Klezmer’s seen a remix from everyone. There’s some life left in that baby yet…
Keep your eyes peeled for Dop’s track with Wareika ‘Play Play Play’, which just appeared on Dop’s chart – I’m curious to say the least… And their album’s set to drop in October.

My favourite is their remix of Greasy Beat
