Exploited label boss and esteemed producer Shir Khan has sent over a bloggable mp3 of the hugely hyped ‘Fissa Tune’ by Homework, that’s been popping up in mixes all over. The Exploited label’s output has been outstanding. It’s a sort-of cheekier version of the Deadfish label: stripped back, sample-based house music with a consistently jaunty twist. Big releases from Chernobyl, Siriusmo, RQM, and Basti Grub have stuck out, but more recently it’s Malente & Dex’s output that’s really impressed, such as the sleazy, saxy houser ‘In Nightclubs’.

I posted a couple of remixes from the up-and-coming Amsterdam duo Howework a few months ago here. This week their deubt EP is released on Exploited and has been getting support from Luciano, Jesse Rose, Mowgli, Brodinski, DoP, Freeform Five, amongst others. The title track does that whole gypsy thing with a choppy, chuggy rhythm of sparse house beats, some Middle Easter pipes, and snipped n clipped vocal grunts. Although ‘Fissa Tune’ is the scenester flavour of the month, it’s ‘I Got One (You’re It)’ that deserves the most attention, with its insatiable house groove and an old school diva vocal sample. ‘I Got Two’ is standout too: a big, catchy disco house stomper. Be sure to buy the whole EP from Juno or Beatport.
