Exploited comes of age

Exploited Records are celebrating their 3rd anniversary in style: with a party in Berlin on Saturday, October 16th. The ever generous founder of Exploited, Shir Kahn, has sent over a whopping great 8-track compilation to further celebrate this birthday. And it not just a bunch of crappy bootlegs either, but features some of Exploited’s best releases. Here’s my picks of the bunch:

Modeselektor do what they do best: big thumping techno with a fuzzy, analogue twist. It’s an all-growling, groaning, lurching monster. Play it loud and see your subwoofer shake with awe:
Siriusmo – 16 Wow (Modeselektor Edit) [pelski highly recommends]
There’s some lovely tribal drums interspersed by piano stabs here, but, really, it’s all about that deliciously soulful diva loop. Disco house with real dancefloor clout:
Homework – I Got One (You’re It) [pelski highly recommends]
A quirky, choppy house tune that defies it’s title and… well… bumps. It bumps alot. And the vocals bumps along to the beat rather neatly too:
Consistent – Aint no Bump [pelski highly recommends]
I don’t know what ever happened to Minimow, Mowgli’s promising minimal alter-ego (answers on a postcard please?). ‘Bollyhouse’ takes some Indian flutes and lays a simple rutted house beat beneath it.
A more recent one, this. Slapping beats and a chipper Balkan vibe:
Check out their party below. Rather stonking lineup might I add:
