Felix Da Housecat bounces back from mezcal addiction with new EP

Dance music veteran and electroclash pioneer Felix Da Housecat returns with his first original music in almost four years. New EP Sinner/Winner was released yesterday on Brooklyn-based label No Shame (in collaboration with Felix’s own imprint, Rude Photo). The release follows his recent BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix back in February and proves that 2013 will be the year of the Houscat’s mighty comeback from the abyss of a debilitating mezcal addiction.

In a remarkably frank interview with Billboard, Felix described his battle with the drug:

“I was fighting myself. I was fighting the mezcal as I was a mezcalateer, and mezcal makes you hallucinate.

“I was fighting a battle within myself as I got so consumed with the partying and the drinking that when I looked in the mirror I didn’t recognize myself.”

Sinner/Winner is the first material released from the flurry of activity that followed the DJ’s recovery from addiction. In the same interview with Billboard he credits the guys at No Shame as well as a change of management for giving him the inspiration to get back on the production wagon.
