When I open the Pelski beat-box it’s kind of like a fishing trip, you cast out your rod into a murky pool of teeming names, luminescent capitals, shimmering exclamation marks and bizarre acronyms, just hoping the line might tug and you pull out a throng of gasping basslines and fresh hooks. Well I went fishing the other night, putting out my best bait and slipping on my favourite waders, and boy did I catch some great bass. So hears my catch, I brought it home just for you, and may I thank those who kindly dropped the hook line and sinker.
Keep em Coming!
The XX –Shelter (Graphics Mix)
A fine tipped make over from Oxfords underground star ‘Graphics’. A sentimental pulse of deep bass weight energy, scrawls over the rubbed out vocal blips. This boy is still doing his AS’s, and he’s producing bold pieces of dubbed up electronica. God knows what he’s gonna do once he breaks free from his classroom shackles.
Temper D – Everything I want (feat Lethal B)
Another drum’n’bass heavy weight lends his hands to house music. Renowned for his superb junglist jump up sets, with far too many decks to count on one hand. Temper takes his junglist thickets into the realms of ghetto teched house, with Lethal’s undercurrent of distant housed up harks leading us through the undergrowth. With critical acclaim from legends such as John Peel, Temper D is one to watch.
DataScent & Glideside – The Birdz
Two techno shoegazers who know how to stomp all over the bassline are Hungarian pair, Datascent & Glideslide. With short fused indicators bleeping their way through the majority of the track, we’re then met with some engulfing LFO modulation. But the real treat comes when we’re off loaded onto a crisp electro baseline, which takes us sauntering and falling over the finish line. Filth.
Blackstrobe – Italian Fire Flies (Eskimo Twins Mix)
This duplicate duo hailing from Leeds have a built a solid fan base at the notorious Wax On nights, supporting the likes of SMD, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan and hailing plays from the likes of Streetlife DJ’s. Check their Horror E.P soon to be on release. Real electro finery of the finest kind.
Bangatang – Bashful
After waking up from a severe warehouse session, this was just what the dilapidated raver ordered. Bangatang lays down a soulful step of melodies, with permeating sub pressure that knows its way to safety. This mature cut is a tranquil brush mark on the dark soundscape of the dubstep scene.
Classic Bonus Beat:
DJVT – Watskeburt (Touche’s Vocal Mix)
Electro arcadia and blippity goodness. Loco Vocals.
The uni work is finally finished, so expect the posts to be coming thick and fast. And I implore you to keep sending us sick tunes!
