Two deeply melodic and spacey offerings from Hannes Fischer, the young Berlin producer best known for a slew of unofficial pop edits for the likes of Adele, Bon Iver and Lana Del Rey.
‘Deep Field’ starts with a fairly standard tech-house intro – a slightly more menacing take on those rounded basslines habitually churned out by the Hot Creations camp. But as it moves forward a more idiosyncratic piece unfolds, with chiming keys and swirling, otherworldly synths. In the latter half, splurges of electro gurlgles punctuate the bassline, providing a little extra dancefloor weight.
In contrast, the sharp, metallic percussion of ‘Mystic Mountain’ is stunted and punchy, throwing you off-course before an unexpectedly folky guitar break enters. An odd but strangely enticing track.
Keep your eyes peeled for Fischer’s forthcoming album on Sonar Kollektiv.
