Meet. Pelski: ‘a four hour tour’

meet.pelskiMeet., a new club night nestled in the intimate basement of Plan B, Brixton, is gearing up for its second outing next week. With a concept that aims to put the music at the core, Meet. places a single DJ at the helm for the duration of the night, allowing for a “four hour tour of their extensive record collection”.

The first outing saw Trouble Vision resident Park Ranger hit the decks with a blinding set to a rapt dancefloor. Next Friday, Pelski will step up to the plate: expect slo-mo disco, soulful, obscure house, plus some rawer bangers as the night goes on.

Meet.‘s co-founder and promoter Ed Sweet gave us the low down:

“At the heart of our night is simplicity. £5 entry, good crowd, good music and no pretense. The idea is to create a platform for a single DJ to show off their skills and selection with as much freedom as possible. The night is about giving them the center spotlight and offering them four hours to delve deep into the diversity of their collections.”

“For instance, if you look at our last booking – Park Ranger is predominantly a house music DJ. He has recently been booked to play alongside John Talabot, Theo Parish, Bicep, Henrik Schwarz, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Âme, Joy Orbison, Ben UFO…but you won’t often see him as a headliner where he has complete freedom to play whatever he fancies. He knows how to work a dance floor better than anyone, so we thought it made sense to give him complete control of the music all night. Hopefully you will agree that he did a great job.”
