Romanthony – Let Me Show You Love (2013 Remixes)

Fresh from the excellent ‘Bring U Up’ reworks, Glasgow Underground aims to cash-in on another Romanthony classic ‘Let Me Show You Love’, one of the most recognisable and abundantly remixed acapellas of his career.

Gerd and Oliver $ turn in the best cuts on an otherwise forgettable package. But even Gerd’s rework seems uninspired as it lifts wantonly from Buzzin Cuzzins’ seminal remix, only really adding to it with a full vocal and touch of weightier bass. Oliver $ goes for a suitably brash beat with its big, booming warehouse vibe.

Gavin Herly and Laura Jones opt for a dark, trippy take that errs on the techy side; all well and good in itself but fails to gel with Romanthony’s croon. Meanwhile, Kevin McKay offers an ordinary old school version – chunky beats and piano chords galore – and Mia Dora goes for a roughed-up bass mix.

Some great artists here, it’s just a shame the whole package sounds so cobbled together.
