If I’d included a ‘Best Mix’ subheading in my 2009 round-up (which I decided against due to the already unfathomable length of the damn thing), Round Table Knights would most certainly have won. But then there’s the problem of which mix: their seasonal series are consistently refreshing, uplifting and always interesting. And now they’re back to warm our frosty bones with a sublime winter mix.
Clocking in at exactly one hour, RTK have taken things deeper, with a focus on soulful vocal samples, but retain their cheerful tech-house tendencies. They’ve brought together some of my favourite tunes of 2009 (Solomun’s ‘Cloud Dancer’, Patrick Kunkel and M.in’s ‘Frauen & Blumen’and Soulphiction’s ‘Who To Call’) and then thrown in a whole host of exciting new productions from the likes of Camel, Daniel Steinberg and Jamie Anderson.
