Satin Jackets – You Make Me Feel Good

Satin Jackets aka Tim Bernhardt has described his latest as ‘not dubstep at all’. And it is true, his tracks are almost the exact antithesis to dubstep. Like the eponymous garments themselves, Satin Jackets’ sound is silky smooth, polished within an inch of its life, and, let’s face it, a tad naff.

The glossed-up track in question, ‘You Make Me Feel Good’, chugs along with such a flagrantly sleazy 80’s vibe it might as well be lounging on an inflatable Lilo, cocktail in hand, sporting some outrageously fluorescent Speedos. The clipped vocal sounds like a lost Michael Jackson sample and is left to reverberate over a series of washed-out guitar twangs – all adding to its gleefully retro beach sound.

The deep mix does exactly what it says on the tin and goes all po-faced, transforming the original into a fairly ordinary deep house offering.
