The forward-thinking fellas over at Scatterblog have just sent us over their latest EP. Scattermusic – a new record label run by Scatterblog – are embracing the unavoidable globalization and technologicalization of the music industry in the 21st century: their releases are handed out for free on their blog, with the option of buying the music too. It is thus the first ‘fully-fledged free-release blog label’.
Their latest release comes from Edu K – a prolific producer who’s flirted with Baile Funk and Electro and is now playing with percussive afro-tech-house. It’s a two track EP with a whole host of remixes. I’ve picked my favourites.
Jumpin ‘n’ Pumpin throws in everything from hip-hop vocal snippets, energetic drum patterns, bouncy African percussion and horns gallore. A sort-of Zombie Disco Squad number with A.D.D.:
It’s Dubbel Dutch’s re-rub that does it for me. He retains the jumpye essence, but cuts it up with some ravey house chords: the beats are given a little more punch:
Edu K – Jumpin n Pumpin (Dubbel Dutch Remix) [pelski highly recommends]
Femme En Fourrure – quickly becoming a Pelski favourite (more tracks here) – strips things back to a deeper, more minimal affair:
Edu K – Jumpin n Pumpin (Femme En Fourure Remix)
The other track on the EP, ‘Ja Mann!’, gets a suitably bleepy, wollaping remix, filled with drum rolls and big hefty beats. Charted by Brodinski, this is one for the dancefloor:
