Been sitting around this cafe all day drinking coffee and trying to read various books for uni, and to my surprise I became distracted by silly repetitive noises once more. So instead of remaining idle I decided to cash in on the free wi-fi alongside a suspicious latte, and began to upload beats onto the YCCMP server. For some reason the wi-fi crashed due to my mass upload, causing a disgruntled mob of glowing hubs around the ramshackle cafe to gaze ominously for the culprit, whilst a burly manager surfaced from behind the bar. Considering I ha
d the most conspicuous haircut there, I made a scanty hop and skip to the exit, leaving my platter of smoke salmon and cream cheese behind. These are the daily trials we endure, to ensure your feet are glued to the dance-floor people…we love it though. Now, back to business…
‘IDJ Magazine’ branded these Belfast boys with their top tune seal of approval mid 2009, delegating a straight 10/10 for their superb ‘Black Arts’ e.p. Whilst their label boss Mr Paul Woolford sat on yet another winning ticket, as big room killers such as ‘Tooth n Bone’ plucked the grizzle from the speaker cone. It’s therefore no surprise the leaders of our dance-floors convened to confirm such praises for Jet Project, as flags were waved high by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Danny Tenaglia and Stephan Bodzin, when their ‘Pearl Driver’ e.p dropped. The ‘Let’s Do It” (12 mix’) is a thickly caked slow burner, with a twinge of tribal dub up in the mix.

A crescendo of crunchy house stabs intertwine themselves around a soulful vocal on Ryhan Harden‘s dubbed tech-house production. The repetition of the vocal sample “Help Me” ironically serves itself, as Ryhan saves our ears with his 3am warehouse vibes. It’s the fast paced jump up hi-hat frequency that really keeps this dubstep influenced house track really on top of it’s groove.

Jay West is one of South America’s finest funk infused house producers, notoriously responsible for keeping the classic organic underground sounds of party flavoured funk sprouting from it’s roots. Jay’s fresh grooves will rouse all those budding wall flowers off their highchairs, and by the end of the night you’ll be pulling jazz hands by the poolside with Daniel Steinberg. Eric Davenport leaves us with an excellent make over of the original.

I plugged my favourite newcomer ‘Milt Mortez’ a few weeks back in my promo mix for the official YCCMP Party. Since he dropped the excellent piece of upbeat tribalism that was ‘Lungisani’, he’s finally receiving some worthy attention from the likes
of the Sound Pellegrino crew, with Bambounou dropping ‘Lungisani’ in his new mix. Here’s a couple of new tracks he’s sent me in full quality, and be sure to look out for his alien invasion of ‘Pluto’, which we’ll be dropping with a string of remixes very soon! In the meantime Milt lets Donald Duck deal with his headache in an un-gentlemanly manner, whilst ‘Astoria’ sends us delving into our dreams in a weekend foreign market, and John Roman gets a clickity-click on the remix.
