This post is in response to a mix I’m soon to post, that features this outstanding remix of Veto by Tomboy (AKA Tomas Barford). It was released way back in March (for a secnester bloggers that’s a decade ago) and somehow slipped me by. Robin Gillard‘s superb mix alerted me to this equally superb remix, and thought it deserved a post all on its lonesome.
Veto are a Danish electro-rock band, whose sound is similar to that of Depeche Mode’s. Yes, they’re rocky alright, but with synthy elements that make them all the more danceable.
Tomboy is another alias for elecro-rock band WhoMadeWho’s Tomas Barford. His wonderfully low-key remix strips away the original’s rocky guitar riffs and noisy synths, leaving us with a downtempo, melodic tune of bobbing bleeps, floaty bass and a crooning vocal cut. This aint no dancefloor banger, but is very, very pleasant on the ears:
