Trouble Vision & DeadFish Label Party resident and London’s Superfilth Co Promoter – and more importantly, Pelski associate – Oli D.A.B presents Zulu Tea Party: the new bi monthly party held at London’s Big Chill House.
March the 13th’s Zulu Tea Party welcomes Mad Decent and Nightslugs’ bongo assassinator L-Vis 1990 as well as House maestro Nockall, Trouble Vision head man Solid Gold, whose status according to the flyer has been promoted to the lofty Mr Solid Gold, as well as your faithful host Oli D.A.B alongside Robin.
Headliner L-Vis is renowned for his versatile productions – banged out at an impossible rate – that chuck funky, dubstep and house into the melting pot. L-Vis 1990 played my York-based ‘Idioteque’ night last Saturday and I can personally attest to the strength of his DJ sets: all cogent dancefloor beats and dynamic mixing.
Check out the latest in the Zulu T Party Mixtape series below, put together by the tea sipping bongo connoisseurs Oli D.A.B & Robin themselves. Yup, like the night itself, the mix is filled with bumpy house beats, a couple of UK funky flavours and plenty of tribalist fun:
We’ve got a couple of other blog-cleared freebies to throw your way too. The Sound Pellegrino label are handing out their VIP dub of the 2009 anthem ‘United Groove’ – a stripped down affair, that throws out stabs and sparse bursts of skittering percussion. Additionally, the L-Vis remix of indie-dance-remixed-group-of-the-moment Delphic sees L-Vis pummel them with his trademark cut-up drum workout – punchy staccato percussion punctuates gnarled, winding bass.
