The ever playful Round Table Knights have been around the block a few times to say the least, flirting with everything from hip hop to fidget (remember?) to gypsy to deep house – the one constant being a certain bubbly cartooniness. Recently the Swiss DJ duo appear to have settled on a single sound: big-room, chunky house, as heavy on the funk as it is the low-end.
‘I Just Want’ is a case in point, dropping on Shir Khan’s sprightly Exploited imprint, it’s a clean, mainstream sounding houser that puts some real welly behind the bass. On the flip, ‘Whoo’ is another hefty Dirtybird-type roller – with added trancey synths.
A tad commercial sounding, both tracks push undeniable peak-time grooves but aren’t as memorable as some of RTK’s quirkier releases.
