Velour – Speedway / Dial

velour main

Following Velour’s debut on Night Slugs in 2010, Julio Bashmore once again teams up with Hyetal for an intriguing splurge of stomping electro-funk. ‘Speedway’ is one half tough, structured 808 drums and one half sleazy 80’s keyboard electro – a combination that works well under the pair’s immaculate production skills. On the flip, ‘Dial’ gets futuristic with a spacey, eerie wig-out and just a touch of ghetto-tech swagger.

More often than not collaborations of this sort yield disappointing and forgettable fare – so it’s great to see Velour buck the trend as a ‘dream team’ that actually works.

Hey Pelski just wanted to say thank you for continuing to run this website. I recently began searching for old blogs that shared music such as you have been doing for years and unfortunately many of them are no longer around. I attribute much of the music I have discovered and enjoyed over the last 5 years to your efforts. Again, thank you for all the great shares.
